Me and Megan

Megan and I finished recording our podcast. It is in editing right now, but my editor is running a little slow. lol I will post as soon as it is up and running. We had fun and a lot of laughs.

We got the last little bit of back to school shopping done today. It took the school forever to let us know who the kids teachers are. Tomorrow we go and meet the teachers and have ice cream. Anthony still doesn't know what classes he has for sure. Jason goes to school for just a couple of hours on Tuesday and not again until the 10th. He was a little bummed, he is ready for first grade to start NOW.

Megan Today

Here are some pics of Megan at work today.

Great Saturday

First off, I changed the name of the blog. My last one (can't even remember now what it said) sounded a little too Martha Stewart. Not that I have a problem with her, I just believe that the "Zoo" better describes my house.
Second, today I am being a great Mom. I let the kids have donuts for breakfast ( A had a friend over last night) and pizza rolls for lunch. Maybe we will have fish sticks for dinner. LOL A is off at the dollar store now buying some new playing cards so they all can play poker. Surprising enough the kids are really good at it. What am I doing you ask. SEWING.....
I have been working on a quilt for a Christmas gift. It isn't a big quilt but it has lots of little pieces that go together. I am actually enjoying putting it together.
Well, enough on the peter, I am off to my podcast's and sewing machine.

Master Craftsman

OK, so maybe not master craftsman but at least he is working on it. He and Steve are working on building some bird houses. He is going to sell them at a holiday bazzar for his Philly trip. Anthony has even told some of his friends that the air soft war has to be put of for a couple of hours until he gets this done. WOW!! He would have never done that before. He has done wonderfully in his efforts so far. He made $50 taking care of a horse for a couple of days and $65 in bottle and can returns. Only a couple of dollars of that was from us and he has a couple of other things in the works. This is in addition to the $800 he has already earned this summer. WAY TO GO ANTHONY, WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!!!

Here he is doing his happy dance. Notice, he still has all of his fingers. lol

I Told You

I told you it feels like fall. It started raining this morning and hasn't stopped. We need the rain in this area, so it's a good thing.
Megan asked if we could sew today and we did. She did a great job on sewing a square and decided she needed a break. She is not sure yet what she is making, but that is just part of the fun. Just like Mom, start something and have no idea where it is going.

Jason is counting the days till school starts. What a crazy kid.

Here is Megs square.

Happy Saturday

The week in review...

Rec. Soccer ended this week, with last games and pizza party's. Football camp and practice started this last week. Megan also starts Select soccer, which she is excited about. So, even though it is the middle of August it is starting to feel like fall is in the air.

Today I worked at the quilt show, very fun. Earlene takes me under her wing and does whatever she can to motivate me to get quilting. It worked. I have three projects sitting on my ironing board that I am eager to get working on. But first I have a garden that needed some attention. I have cherry tomatoes like you would not believe, and my basil has gone crazy. Tomorrow I will get back to working on some more pesto for the freezer. My scallop squash is producing tons and the pumpkins are starting to turn orange. Jason planted the pumpkins so he is getting excited. He thinks Halloween must be close.

I can't be sitting here any longer the grass is screaming for some water.

Here are some pics of my garden.

Long Long Day

Anthony and I where up at 5:00am and working the twilight softball tournament. It was supposed to be a slower weekend so we where not doubled up on help. For the 4 hours we worked alone. We went through 2 cases of hamburgers alone, not to mention all the hot dogs. The guys played softball all night but the snack bar is only open from 6am to 1am. I for one am glad the tournament is over. The kids worked this as a Philly fund raiser and made a lot of money for the trip. I am so proud of him for working as hard as he has the last couple of months. His first payment for the trip is due in September and he has earned well over that amount. He still has some jobs lined up for the rest of the summer and into fall. He should have no problem earning everything he needs plus spending money. All this for a kid who thought it was going to be impossible to earn the money.

Fun Night

I decided last night to take the kids to the drive in and we had a great time. I was a bad mom and took them to see The Simpson's Movie, but they loved it. Bart and Homer always make me laugh. Jason too, his belly laugh just kills us.

Anthony and I saw a falling star, then another, then another. Not only a movie but we also enjoyed a meteor shower. Very cool.

So, here's to enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation. Where we try to do all the things we meant to do back in June and July. lol

Here's a pic of the kids in their fort.....aka my living room

Fingers Crossed and Some Prayers

I was online reading the news when I notice a small little blurb about a hurricane headed towards Hawaii. My brother is there working so I was a little concerned. So, as I am getting ready to write this I talk to him on the phone. He tells me they haven't heard anything about it. lol It must not be too serious. I notice now that they think it will miss the islands but may have some really good waves in Honolulu. He said he would check it out, but it's life as normal there. Oh well, some prayers anyway.

Baking, Baking, Baking

Ok, baking is not my favorite thing to do in the summer. We had a cool streak here and it felt like fall. I took advantage of it to use some of my zucchini. I have enough zucchini bread to last us the winter and I still have a ton of zucchini. I think next week I might try a zucchini relish recipe. It requires canning, something I haven't done in a long time, but the relish is very good. It's not just zucchini that I have tons of, its all kinds of squash, tomatoes, green pepper, onions, cucumbers and jalapenos. Only some of this is from my garden. Some of it is from our friends looking to get rid of their harvest's.

Disneyland here we come. This is our vacation with Steve and everyone is very excited. I think Steve is more excited then the kids. We leave in October and will be there for a week.

A Day to Relax

I don't think so. A day to do laundry is more like it. It was my bright idea on Thursday to have a garage sale. One that I won't be here for. lol So Friday night we cleaned out the garage and priced everything. Saturday Anthony, Steve and I got up at 5am, to set everything up. Anthony and I left and went to work the twilight softball tourn., and left Steve to do the garage sale. We came home, helped clean up and get ready for the county fair. We got home around 9:30pm because Steve and I just could not walk anymore. We had a good time at the fair (forgot the camera so no pictures). It is really small, so the kids all took off with friends and we could wonder around the exhibits. I was informed that next year I will be entering a quilt. My neighbor won first place with gorgeous pineapple quilt.

Speaking of quilting. I am starting a bunch of different projects as we speak. Anthony has a fund raising bazaar in November and I promised a quilt for it. Well, I promised a few things for the bazaar, but I am not thinking about those because my blood pressure will start going up. lol

Have a good relaxing Sunday

Back To Normal

What ever that means. We are trying to get back into some sort of routine. Much of a schedule around here is out the window during summer but I do want some normalcy back. I had a friend here from the tri-cities on Tuesday. We took the kids to the movies and they ended up spending the night. Everyone was asleep by midnight, except for the two youngest girls who where up until 2:30am.

Steve was approached by the Select Soccer league coach yesterday about Megan. He wants her on his team and said she is a heck of a goalie. Megan agrees with him. The only problem is she is short (so is Mom) and that makes it difficult to be a goalie in high school. Can you believe we are talking about HS at this age? Megan is sensitive about her size and will explain to anyone how wrong it is to judge people that way. She had a very long discussion with our priest at the church because he assumed she was younger then she is based on her size. Let's just say he won't be making that mistake again and they have become pretty good friends. So we are discussing whether or not we are ready for this commitment (none of the games are in town and are 2 hours away) and Megan is thinking about if she is ready for this. To be continued........
